How much time will you have to devote to get started?
Licensing and certifications process - Everyone learns at a different pace and manner. Kaplan offers many options and types of learning experiences. You may choose to attend a live class and work from a book, or go at your own pace and study online. Depending on your commitment, you can complete these steps in as little as 2 months or as long as 6 months.The choice is yours.
In the insurance industry continuing education is an ongoing process. Most insurance carriers require that you re-certify on a yearly basis.
What comes after you pass your licensing and certification process?
Once you are licensed, you will meet with me for a one-on-one training session. I will expand on what I do to obtain new clients and retain my existing ones. If you are local, you will attend a presentation with me. I will share documents and my system with you, and assist you in creating your marketing plan. If you are creative and tech savvy, you can create the brochures, mailers and websites yourself. If you're not, don't worry. I have someone who can assist you at a reasonable price.
How much money will you need to invest?
There are start up costs associated with required education classes and licensing. I will reimburse you up to $500 combined total for the cost of the course and certification expenses, once your become licensed and register your name under my agency; Jeffrey J. Rood and Associates LLC.
There will be costs associated with forming a corporation and/or filing a fictitious name, if you choose to do so.
There are expenses for printed materials, such as brochures, business cards, mailers, envelopes and stamps. You will need to purchase a prospective clients name and address list through www.needalead.com .
There are costs for creating a website, and purchasing a domain name.
In retirement, how much time will I have to commit?
The answer to this question - It's entirely up to you.
In the beginning, your time will be spent addressing envelopes to reach prospective clients. The envelopes will be hand written for best results. I personally addressed these myself when I first started, now I have people on my team do the writing, I send out on average 400 letters a month.
The more time you invest, the more money you'll make. The beauty of this business is residual income, you will continue to get paid a commission, year after year if you retain your clients.
